The famous blue lotus is not actually a lotus, but a water lily with gorgeous bright blue-purple flowers. It was beloved by the ancient Egyptians, Assyrians, Persians, and indigenous peoples of Southeast Asia for ceremony, medicine, beauty products, and pleasure and is still used today in many of the same ways the ancients used it. In most cultures the water lily is associated with purification, renewal, and rebirth and it was used to purify priests, priestesses, and nobility before prayer or communing with spirits and deities.
In mythology it was connected to the liminal times of dusk and dawn due to its day time blooming cycle. It was believed to connect us to the gods, nature spirits, and the spirits of the dead as well as align the mind, body, and spirit with divinity. The flowers and flower buds were a common grave offering in tombs.
Its aporphine alkaloids are topically active and effect the central nervous system similar to our beloved medicinal nightshade ointments.
Like our mandrake ointment, this Blue Lotus Ointment is one we recommend for aphrodisiac use because of its happy, pleasant euphoric effects but also because it is is safe to contact mucous membranes (aka your mouth and genitals). It takes two hours for the effects to fully kick in. It is also traditionally used to cool sexual desire revealing that this plant understands consent. Let it know which intent you wish for before use.
Made with blue lotus flowers, vitamin e oil, sunflower oil (helianthus annuus), and beeswax.
